Specially designed for use with ponds and water gardens, the Aquabiome ASM is a state-of-the-art pressure filter that uses special beads; a great alternative to traditional sand filters which clog easily and can be involved to maintain. The Aquabiome pressure filter is exceptionally powerful and provides both mechanical and biological filtration in one device.

Mechanical and biological filtration
Mechanical filtration physically removes solids from the pond by trapping solids between the crevices of the filter media.
Biological filtration is the most effective method of removing toxins (e.g., ammonia) and breaking them down into nitrites and then into nitrates, which provide food to your aquatic plants. This is accomplished by using naturally occurring bacteria which live in the biofilter where they are exposed to large quantities of food and oxygen.
