Why You Should Consider Solar Aeration For Your Pond Or Dam

We all know that aeration is crucial to the health of our aquatic ecosystems but sometimes installing an appropriate system is easier said than done.

Previously, not having power by your water body meant running costly cable from the closest source or having to dig trenches to hide the hose running from your remote set up.

Luckily, those days are now behind us.

The rise in popularity of solar aeration has allowed the industry to invest in improving technology, reducing costs and making the installation and maintenance more user friendly than ever before.

You can even choose whether you want surface or sub-surface aeration making solar offerings just as diverse as mains powered units.

In addition to being far easier than getting power to the edge of your dam, solar also has a far lower running cost: Dedicated units are completely free to run and as hybrid models only draw power during off peak times, they are far more economical to operate than their fully mains powered counterparts.

So what’s on offer?

Our two main solar ranges include our collection of Airolator Solar Solutions and WaterTreats Air Pumps but we also stock other variants and even some solar water pumps so if you don’t find what you’re looking for below, have a flick through our site.

Airolator Solar Solutions

Airolator Solar Solutions are taking the Australian market by storm and are available in 1hp, 1.5hp and 3hp variants.

Featuring both surface and sub-surface aeration options, Airolator Solar Solutions are suitable for almost any sized dam, lake or other larger water body.

All units feature 304 stainless steel submersible motors and foul resistant operational parts, and come complete with a specialised Solar Controller and industry leading Clenergy solar racking as standard.

1hp models run a dedicated solar DC current and 1.5hp and 3hp units are hybrid enabled. Hybrid models can be set to autonomously switch to mains grid power at sun down if desired.

Airolator Solar Solutions offer the following aeration units:
  • Carnival Aerating Floating Fountains
  • Aquarian Professional Surface Aerators
  • Aquarian Commercial Surface Aerators
  • Enterprise Aspirating Aerators

Decorative fountains are also available under the new product range.

As an added bonus, Airolator Carnival and Centrifugal Solar units are also compatible with the international aeration powerhouse’s unique changeover kit which allows users to seamlessly switch between decorative and aerating functions.

WaterTreats Solar Air Pumps

Companies that design solar systems tend to focus on specifications suitable for larger water bodies. While this is a logical way to go about things (considering you can always turn a system down but cannot raise it above specs) owners of smaller water bodies will be pleased to hear that there are now options designed specially for them.

WaterTreats Air Pumps can be purchased as single items or as part of a complete aeration kit and are available in 80lpm, 120lpm and 200lpm models.

These units are designed to essentially be plug and play which is great news for those with existing solar set ups and can be used for a range of applications including aeration of tanks and ponds.

Traditional mains powered units will most likely always have a place in the industry but it is good to have more environmentally friendly options available as well.

It should also be noted that those who are unable to utilise a solar set up can consider the use of a Windmill system.
